Hello Beehively users! Here at Beehively, we’re working continuously to improve our product line, even as many of our schools (and our team as well) transition to remote work in wake of the rapidly evolving situation surrounding the spread of COVID-19. Today we celebrate the work of our engineering team and bring you notes on our latest software release as of March 27th, 2020.
New Feature: Distance Learning Attendance
We heard many concerns around having attendance at home marked in an accurate and timely way. Solving problems is our pleasure, and we now have a Distance Learning Attendance feature for parental use!
When enabled, this will display a “Submit Attendance” link to parents under their My Info section. This link takes the parent to a simplified page which allows each child to be marked present or absent. The whole process only takes three clicks! Teachers will see this information pre-filled in their attendance-taking screen. Once all parents have submitted their attendance, it’s a simple as checking it over and hitting submit!
This is designed to cut out the middle man (Google Forms, or actual paperwork) and make taking attendance as simple as possible to save you time. You can even set a cutoff time so parents have to submit their attendance before a certain time!
This software is currently in a short beta period before we make it available to everyone, but if you want to try it out we're happy to enable it for your school. Want this for your school right now? Let us know!
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Now you can change when homework alert emails are sent out. This used to be always set at 4pm, but we’ve had a lot of requests to change that with the switch to distance learning. Now on your School Profile you can set a default time for this announcement, and as a teacher, when you assign homework through the Homework Corner you can have it send out at any time you want, just like an announcement!
- The People page lets you search through data associated with everyone at your school, but now we’ve expanded the functionality to clearly show you where results are coming from when you search all fields. Search on and become a People pro!
- Work continues on the New Beehively UI! If you didn’t get a chance to take a look earlier this week, you can check it out on our last post.
- Fixed even more minor issues.
